It is NOT factory built. Bob Wallace experimented with a TT motor for a Countach, neither was ever installed, and my friend owns one of them.

That is hands down my all time favorite car. Just sick! I would never sell it and my illness of constantly buying and selling cars would finally be cured.

Ok, unfortunately the article (Lamborghini Reventón trifft Countach Turbo S extreme Supersportwagen | Sportauto) doesn't give that much information about the car's roots.
This is the only thing they say:
In den meisten Auflistungen der Countach-Varianten fehlt ein Modell. Exakt zwei Stück davon gab der Firmengründer 1984 in Auftrag. Der Prototyp ist verschollen, doch der zweite lebt.
English: Most lists of the different Countach versions are missing one model. Exactely two units thereof were ordered by the company founder in 1984. The prototype is lost without trace but the second one lives.

The fact that the company founder ordered this car made me believe that it was factory built...

I'm not really a Lambo guy, but I will say this: Lambo, over the last 30 years, has NOT lost the plot. Bravo - not many other car companies can say that.

Ferrucio Lamborghini sold the company long before 84 and had nothing to do with the company.

Isn't it funny how stuff like this gets messed up over the years.

I looked for about 30 minutes on this and found - at least - 20 different websites that tell the Ferrucio Lamborghini story. But I am also totally confident that Allan knows what he is talking about too.

I guess it just adds to the Lambo mystique.
