2002 Berger SS Camaro Restoration by Richie's Custom Detailing

I was contacted by this client to restore the finish on this 2002 Berger SS Camaro.

This car is #66 of 100 and is a Stage I 380HP version which consists of cold air induction, Hurst shifter, GMMG chambered exhaust, Eibach springs, Fikse FM5 wheels, drilled rotors and Berger badges.

As it was dropped off.

Wheel cleaner dwelling.

Rinsed.

As you can see here there was plenty of protection on the surface and needed to be stripped away.

Citrus degreaser breaking down the LSP.

Inside.

Some disassembly required.

Taillights and rear filler panel removed.

Client wanted the front bumper stripes replaced since they were nicked up pretty bad.

Removing the stripes.

Removed.

Now onto the paint.

Since this was an SS with a fiberglass hood the only panels I could take readings from were the rear quarters and rocker panels.

Some readings were in the 70 micron range so I had to tread lightly.

Stripes taped off.

Some of the defects I was able to capture.

Corrected.

Onto the vinyl stripes.

The stripes were in terrible shape. Not only are they near impossible to replace but quite pricey as well for original replacements.

Before.

This scratch was pretty deep and was a concern for the owner.

Corrected.

More damage.

Corrected.

Time to replace the bumper stripes.

Now for the taillights.

Before.

50/50

After.

Calipers sealed.
