AMG 3 piece wheel cleaning advice

whats a good way to get into the area where the small bolts are.

i have used mothers metal polish on the lips of theses but its hard to get in between the area where the bolts are.

i usually spray the wheels down first with meguiars gold class or soemthing

There is no "magic way", you will have to spend some time on these wheels. Start with a good wheel cleaner which is strong enough to clean but not acid based(will etch the polished lips).

Phil has the new Sonax wheels cleaner which will clean them safely, then you are going to have to hand polish them(yes even between the bolts) with a quality metal polish with a cotton towel to start then switch to a foam applicator or microfiber towel once the heavy polishing is accomplished.

This will take some work............. or you can have a qualified pro in your area handle it for you.

Cleaning the bolts on 3 piece wheels has always been a problem . . . and there is no quick and easy solution. You're going to have to go at each bolt one at a time. A good product for that is Wheel Wax brand Metal Polish. The product consists of cotton wadding impregnated with a very effective cleaning chemical. Tear off a small piece of wadding, polish the bolt head and throw the wadding away when the chemical begins to evaporate or when the wading turns black from the oxidation coming from the uncoated metal. Repeat the process on all bolt heads. Finish by buffing any remaining residue off with a soft cloth. Larry Emmons
