Engine Bay cleanup on a 997 GT3 RS

Engine Bay cleanup on a 997 GT3 RS
Before taking a hose to my RS's engine bay, what precautions or prep work should i do before hosing down that engine bay with some engine cleaner ... boy oh boy is it dirty 
reason i have not yet done so, is because of the exposed air filter and also many exposed electrical wires ... (although insulated)

Get yourself some detail brushes, a good citrus based degreaser and some old MF towels..
Dilute the degreaser with water 4:1 in a spray bottle and spray down the engine bay. Aggitate, then use an old damp MF towel to wipe everything down. This may take some time but in the end it is safer than spraying the engine bay with a hose.
To finish it off spray some 303 Aerospace Protectant on all plastic and rubber, then stand back and enjoy.
Dilute the degreaser with water 4:1 in a spray bottle and spray down the engine bay. Aggitate, then use an old damp MF towel to wipe everything down. This may take some time but in the end it is safer than spraying the engine bay with a hose.
To finish it off spray some 303 Aerospace Protectant on all plastic and rubber, then stand back and enjoy.
