Db4 questions.

Over the next few weeks i'm intending on doing a complete exterior interior detail of our 1960 aston martin, it hasn't had a wax/polish for around three years. i am hesitant to start though, as i am not sure if the cars paint will handle modern products, is there any precautions i should take before starting, or special products to use? At the moment i'm taking the general meguiars approach.
Any input is appreciated
Cheers.

A classic like that deserves something more than a mainstream, off-the-shelf product IMHO. How involved do you want to get? By your comment of the car's paint handling modern products, can we aaume it's original paint?

The one product line that is safe, effective, all-natural, and gives great results is zymol. When it comes to the basics for the paint such as claying, polishing, and waxing, you're safe using zymol. There are other products that have their purpose as well that are synthetic. To clean the engine, I'd recommend P21S Wheel Cleaner as it's safe and effective on looseing stubborn dirt and oils. The best thing to do is to take some pictures, let us know the areas you're focusing on, and I'll make some suggestions for each of those areas. Look forward to seeing this jewel

Thanks for the reply moe, in terms of how serious i am, I was thinking i would spend a weekend on it, the paint isn't original but the respray is getting a little tired and has 'spider webs' all over, thanks for your suggestions, especially the wheel cleaner, never would've thought of that! I'll be sure to post some pics when i get under way.

Glad I could help. Let me know what areas you'll be working on and I'll suggest you the correct products to use.
