Few Questions on new PDK/DFI
When are these changes going to be made to turbo? Reason I ask is b/c friend has a position on a car and doesn't' want to get the turbo is these upgrades are going to be made soon, same with appearance features, like the new taillights and such, when do these upgrades take effect?
I believe he has early 09 spot.

There are rumors circulating that the facelifted turbo will come with the integrated dry-sump motor currently in the Carrera. I would wait for confirmation on this and then if it is true, order a car immediately. If it's not true and they're continuing with using the true dry-sump motor, then wait for the facelift.

DFI is awesome. I have it (FSI) in my RS4. Compared to the S4 I had before it, it makes more power and has a lot better gas mileage. It'll be worth the wait in a Turbo - my guess is 40 hp and 2-3 mpg better.

Not expecting fascia changes to Turbo, only 997. DFI likely, but PDK not yet ready for prime time yet (can't handle the torque from the tt yet). Expect some of these for '10.
I would expect any interior changes to show on the TT (touch screen) but not exterior changes.
Official word in just week.

Probably DFI introduction means Turbo losing it's GT1 derived engine for a weaker M97 Turbo version. That means no more tuning!
Current PDK can only handle up to 440Nm torque. The stock Turbo has 620/680Nm (Normal/Sports-Overboost) and my car has over 800Nm with just a Stage II aftermarket kit on it.
I think it's going to take more than just tinkering to get 440Nm over 800Nm!!
So you guys may think the 997 Turbo facelift will be 'progress' but if rumours are right, it will be a HUGE step backwards just to save Porsche money (current GT1 based engine cost £25k, while the M97 costs about £6k).
Still, that would mean my Turbo will be become an instant classic as the peak of Turbo evolution.

The current turbo engine is not the same as the engine used in the normally aspirated 997s (C2, C2S, C4, C4S). The turbo engine is a derivation of the GT1 style dry-sump race engine and is generally regarded as ... excuse the cliche ... bullet-proof. It is one of the real trademarks of the 997TT.
However, the rumuored engine for the faceliftededed 997TT is the base Carrera engine with the turbos added. Not that some will notice, but from the pure elegance of the Turbo, something may be lost in this "evolution".
