Gone In 60 Seconds - Eleanor Movie Car To Go Under The Hammer
#12
Many of the recreation cars do not feature proper FE or PI engines. The entry level cars have Windsors or other small blocks. The most valuable GT500s are the 67's with Shelby FE engines. What you're paying for with the recreation is parts + labor + Shelby name and in a lot of cases SAAC recognition. I do not think these cars hold their value like an original Shelby, and I'd bet one of the very few 427 GT500s (I think there were only 8) would go for well over 250k. A black 67 with a 427 replacement went for $250k at Barrett Jackson several years ago.

But it's not a "real and original, made like that in the factory" Mustang as mentioned before, that is probably the main reason for the (low) price.
Still an awesome car though, one of favorite cars in a movie.

If it doesn't have a Shelby VIN, that is the main reason, period.

For the body kits there are a number of them, Mustang Depot sells them, you can probably even buy one at Summit.
Cost is hard to estimate without knowing what you're starting with. Are you talking about a concours original car, a nice driver, or a barn find? Either way it's definitely not going to be cheap if you want it done right.

That's ccol that's its from the movie. I'm not a fan of Eleanor cars, I prefer original bodywork. Factory or Shelby.
Mustangs are cheap to build. I have a 67 convertible. I bought it 10 yrs ago for $3500. It's probably worth 7000 right now. New floors, 1/4 panels torque boxes etc. I have probably 7k in it including the car.
I'm doing Shelby body work (true 67) with a white deluxe interior. I'll probably have 4-5k into the body, interior and then it would be ready for paint. Paint would be 3-4k
Wheels are going to be 1500 with tires.
And a new top will be about 800.
All in all when I'm done I expect it to be worth 50k
But I'm very particular and I'm doing most of the work. It's going to be very very nice.
On the other hand, I just sold a 66 coupe 289 auto for $1500.00
Mustangs, especially coupes are cheap. A fastback 65-68 will be a shell needing restoring for 4-5k a running but needs everything fastback will be 7k plus a nice driver would be 15-20 and a really nice car that's restored will be30- 40k plus
