Your opinions on a 1967 Shelby GT500E Mustang

I hope we didn't "rain on your parade". It's just when you asked about it from a collectors point of view, it's going to take a damn perfect clone with superb craftsmanship with the right choice of parts and drive train to hold any real value.
Too cliche? I have never seen one in person. It's not like there are thousands of them running around on the street. I would absolutely own and drive one if it was in my budget, clone or original.

I imagine a clone that sounds as nice as this one would fetch 70 or 80K. But I am guessing. I think it is very cool, but got played out quickly. Give me an original with original bodywork any day!

I would go with it. I love the GT500E. It's a great looking car. I would look for one with a manual gear box.
If you are looking at this from a collecting point of view then you should look for an original numbers matching GT500.
All this being said though. I would pull the trigger on one for sure.
Here is a link where I posted some pictures of an original one.

Agree with Hernando. What's the ultimate goal here? You want to buy an investment you can resell in x years and make money or do you want to buy something that looks authentic, sounds better, and will put a smile on your face as fast as you can turn the key to fire it up?
I'd put the 4 speed in it and have the time of my life....

i've had a few original authentic shelbys and 'recreations'. i bot a unique gt500e last year. got it at a good price, and its one of my favorite cars. has a modern touch to it, but has all the panache and character of the older cars. \
my authentic, restored shelbys were nice but too rare, too exceptional to really take around and have fun with.
fyi, what are you expecting to pay for that car you posted? fyi, what bothers me most about that car is the auto matic.. that car is meant to be a 4speed.
FYI, if you want a great mustang, look for a 69 or 70/71 ford mustang MACH 1. 70 grand. thing is as wild looking, nasty powerful and sweet as anything out there. they are 20,30k off their pricing the last few months.
but yeah, very cool cars. but if you buy the car you listed, while you arent buying it for investment purposes, its gonna have a tough time gaining value or holding value....then again, if you're paying 50k, different story. spend a bit more in this bad market, get a good quality example, enjoy the snot out of it, and in time, you'll get out even or make a few or lose a few.
if ouwant to know more about these, the market, etc. feel free to pm me an di'll shoot u my cell.

This was was originally a 4 speed manual, but for who knows what the current owner wanted it converted to an automatic. It can be changed back, but I think that will be something I will decide if I want to do once I have driven the car.
The market is very strange here, and old POS 67 Mustang (rust and all) with around 200k miles on the clock still sells for the US equivalent of $40,000. They are very rare here even in stock original form.
This one they are asking around $150,000 USD. It's a rip off compared to what I could buy with the same money in the states, but a Hummer H2 costs $150,000 USD here as well LOL.
From a "investment" point of view, I do no think this car will fetch top money obviously in the international market, but over here I think it should retain it's value quite well. I'm not really going to buy it as an investment so to say, I just thought if that was one of the bonuses, then it's another plus point to buy the car. I just love the way it looks and I'm going to be flooring it most of the time!
