Burmester - Bose Swap
#12
As for taking on this project, it's likely not worth the time/effort/money. You're best off just replacing the car with one that has the Burmeister sound system already.

Different fiber optic cabling, 16 channel digital amplifier, sub box in the dash is a different demension (same location), analog filters, and beyond that the PCM unit programming will have to be released from the factory which they will not do.
Porsche will not release the programming to add Xm to a non factory equipped car. They would not release the Burmeister coding. Even of you bought all the equip and installed it the PCM would not recognize it anyway.

I have heard installing an aftermarket and trying to get compatibility with the PCM is a nightmare.

OK then, the programming looks like a non-starter. Somebody else is looking into purchasing all the Burmester components and switching them out. But if Porsche won't release the coding, that's it.

Not really. We have a local that has done quote a few 997's, did a 30K system (!) in a Turbo for one of my clients. OEM PCM intergration utilizing a product called Cleansweep if I remember correctly.
To reiterate, Porsche will not release the coding to make the Burmeister compatable.
