Cayenne Diesel to Debut in New York

Porsche has made it public knowledge that it will show a new Cayenne model for the North American market this spring, and the venue of choice for this debut will be the 2012 New York Auto Show. For those anxiously await a GTS variant of the Cayenne don't fret just yet as we do expect to see one soon but its rumored to be the Cayenne Diesel that will grace our shores first.

Power will come from the the same 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 found currently in the Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7. We gather output will be the same as the euro-spec diesel pumping out 240hp with 406 lb-ft of torque.

I think this is one of the best cars from a daily usability point of view. More than enough power commuting and to fill up only after 580 miles is wonderful!

Great dd. I bet it's a blast to smash the pedal in the turbo. But this spec makes much more sense for dd.

Great option from Porsche, would have picked this up instead if it was available at the time.

Is that the old 3.0TDI or an updated version? Because then you will find the same engine in almost any Audi (A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5...)

Great engine! Have it in the Q5 and it runs very smooth and silently. Mutch torque in low revs.

Finally!
I see so many X5 & ML diesels these days, I was waiting for this to come out. I recall Walter Rohl saying that a diesel motor is perfect for the Cayenne. Great mileage in a very nice SUV.
Cayenne diesel for the wife & my RS for me on the weekends....

I drove a 2012 Cayenne S today and it is by far the best car for daily driving. Amazing interior quality, the best ride comfort, flat cornering, more than enough power, great exhaust note. I can't wait to see what the diesel's price and average MPG is

Agree with you 100%. With the way manufacturers are putting out "performance Diesels" these days, it makes a lot of sense in cars like the Panamera and Cayenne. I'm glad they're bringing it to the US.
