Porsche's Panamera To Get EXTENDED

One of Porsche's most successful models is the Panamera. There's no disputing that. but now the company's research department is saying that there is demand for a long-wheelbase Panny. That would make sense since its pricing would place it in the large executive sedan category, which are commonly used as limos and chauffeuring high-end clients.

With that said, there is a possibility we will see the Panamera grow by five inches so back seat riders can cross their legs. As a 6'8 rear passenger in the standard Panamera, I was able to fit behind a six-foot plus journalist driving the vehicle.

Taking all of this into consideration, my only concern is if and how much it will affect the Panamera's strongest attributes: handling and weight.

Porsche is developing a long-wheelbase version of the Panamera in a bid to satisfy demand for greater rear-seat legroom from customers in North American and China.

Details remain sketchy, but insiders at the company's research and development center in Germany have indicated to AutoWeek that the 115-inch wheelbase of today's Panamera will be extended by almost five inches, taking it up to nearly 120 inches...

The long wheelbases always kill the proportion, but it won't add too much weight. Leads me to question how many people want to get driven in these though?

I'm unmoved. I don't care if Porsche starts making extreme luxury cars like MB, as long as I have my sportscars with gasoline engines, I'm as happy as can be.

It will sell especially, since most S-class, 7series owners I know switched to Panamera's, they say the handling is better than the Flying Spur.
