The Panamera / Panamera 4 is here....
And I'm going on record to retract my previous statements that I think this car is bad idea.
I just came back from a test drive and I am completely SHOCKED....
First of all, just moving the car around the 'lot' it felt lighter. Due in part to the optional 'Servotronic'; but mostly due to the lack of Air Suspension and the All New Porsche 'only' V6 with DFI.
You open the hood and see whats missing- a massive 4.8L V8 replaced with a 3.6L V6- moving the weight closer to the cars actual 'center of gravity'.
What's more astonishing is getting her up to speed. The Panamera 4 does it, to me, with less effort than its V8 Sibling. Shifts felt confident and smoother. I'm sure the result of better or modified programming. And hard on the gas produced very nice, V6 sounds. Sure, it doesn't have that V8 rumble... Nor do the 0-60 in under 5 seconds...
But heck, if you're in the market for either a E550 or new Fiver with V8- go drive a new Panamera or Panny 4. You'll be pleasantly surprised. It's ALL Porsche and I found it a more rewarding drive overall than an E550 4 Matic Sport. Time will tell after I spend more time in the cockpit and I'll report as I go.
But I am officially doing an 'about face' on the subject. Porsche has 'done good' with this car. And for approximately the same lease payment as a E550 or what I can imagine the new 550 will lease out for- you can have a sweet Porsche Sedan.
Cheers gang...

Actually it's even worse. They don't even paint the lower parts of the bumper on this one. Not only will you look like an douche with no sense of style like you do in the V8s, you now look like a poor idiot with no sense of style OR speed.

My sales manager just drove the P4 with launch control, he said it was better performing than he expected. I'm liking the black trim around the windows (instead of polished/chrome), that should be an option for the V8's.
