Smart car audio upgrade... advice please.

Hey everyone so my cousin who lives in Manhattan bought a Smart car as per my recommendation. Icon parking garages run a special in Manhattan and park Smart cars monthly for 99 dollars as oppose to the regular 350-500 a month they usually charge for regular cars.

He's complained to me that the stereo just isn't loud enough and as a gift I'd like to upgrade it for him. I don't want to spend a fortune but I'm not sure what the best way to go about this is. Do I take it to an audio shop or order some sort of upgrade from the interwebz? Anyone have any experience?

Thanks!!

**EDIT: The title should read Audio Upgrade.

You probably should have suggested he but a real car. Anyways, best bet would be to take it somewhere. It sounds like it will need at least headunit, speaker and amp. Btw- who listens to music that loud these days? I can't remember last time I felt like I need more volume. Maybe he needs some sounds deadening to isolate outside noise.
