Now I use a concealed Escort Qi45 with optional laser diffusers (2). Used to run the V1 in the M3 and GT3.

Agreed. V1 is the superior device. But for swapping it out quickly between multiple vehicles or stashing it when your parked somewhere its a nice little thing to have.

Tell me more please; all wires have covers and all boots were siliconed in place once the first one fell out (doh!). Is it the primary antenna unit which has issues, or.....?

There's only one radar detector out there i'd consider, and its the one i have (Beltronics STI driver).

The radar detectors listed (particularly the V1) are great devices, however, are completely useless to me as most of the places i drive in radar detectors are illeagal, and the V1 can be picked up by Spectre and other RDD's from over a mile away.

It sucks to spend 550$ on a radar detector that doesn't even have GPS lockout, so i suggest having your wifey buy you one for christmas
