This one is cool, includes distances and stuff, but is MAD old - it was a bookmark from awhile ago, still interesting:

Is there a breakdown of what the results actually mean? For instance, V1 got 10s on just about everything important, but some others got 9s and 9.5.

It was a subjective test, not scientific, based off of usage.

Test results on this page are just our (007radardetectors.com) opinion on how these radar detectors performed for us during months of city & highway driving in multiple states. We have done this for the last 6 years and try to eliminate any bias by carrying every radar detector we test.

This one seems good:

Best radar detector reviews from the world's most respected authority.

So Does this, maybe the V1 needs an update, it looks like the 9500 and the STi Driver and making moves:

ChrisPerformance is an unknown quantity at this point
While I agree the V1 is a great detector with great range I find the radar to be a little too sensitive even after adjusting the settings, also the display is a little hard to read at night depending on where you mount it. I ran the new version of the V1 in my car so that comes from personal use. For a full install I prefer the Passport 9500ci, the GPS locking out false signals is amazing, makes it less annoying. The speedtrap and redlight camera warning feature is nice also. The laser jammers that come with it work very very well, and I can attest to that from personal experience. Plus, once the unit it installed you can't even tell there is really a radar.
We are not far from you at all in Stamford, CT. Feel free to stop by if you want to see some installed.
Here are a few installed

Obviously, Mike missed my message about the casting windshield for his, er, products. Got to correct that. Anyhow, the V1 is a great unit. You can't go wrong with it.
