Edmonton Run June 22/08 or June 28/08 - who's in???
Anyone up for a day trip on Sunday June 22 OR Saturday June 28?
I'm thinking we leave Edmonton early (sorry Pro!, but I'm thinking leave by 8 a.m. latest), head down through Red Deer to the David Thompson highway into the parks, then up towards Jasper for lunch.
After lunch, head to Miette Hot Springs (mostly for that road) before heading back to Edmonton via Hwy 16...
Total distance about 965 km...
A longer day to be sure, but it would be a lot of fun...
Who's in???

--- edited to add optional June 28 (Saturday) ---

Wow, that sounds like a GREAT drive (especially the run up to Miette - still one of my favourite memories of driving my Lotus!!).
As a suggestion, it wouldn't be a bad thing to leave on Saturday morning and overnight it in Jasper (maybe at the JPL?) with a round of golf in at the JPL course? That would be so epic!
But, I'll have to pass on the drive (unless the weekend gets changed around) as I've got my kids that weekend, and I've got more kids than there are spare seats in my car!!
Great idea though. I think you're going to be the social convener!

I've added the option of Saturday the 28th instead - whichever day gets the best response is it!
I don't have a two day weekend between now and July so it's gotta be the one day for me, but if everyone else is up for the two day, I'll just keep rollin' when the group hits Jasper.
As for an epic two-day drive with an overnight, try to free up the Aug. 16/17 weekend for my event!!!

Aug 16/17 I'm again with my kids. I'll see how summer hols are shaping up for them and will let you know.
How are you doing the charity drive? I can't really see saying to someone "sponsor me so that I can go for a rip in my car"
How much are you looking to raise and what's your reason for organizing the drive? It sounds like a lot of fun, and if I can be there, I most certainly will.

The drive is to raise money for cancer research (the Alberta Cancer Foundation) through a combination of entry fees and sponsorships (not "here, sign my pledge form" sponsorships, but business/corporate sponsorships).
More details will be forthcoming on the website as soon as I can get it up and running... unfortunately my website guy hasn't got the site done yet, but I'm hopeful for the end of this week...
At the end of the day, I want the folks who come out to have a great time, enjoy some great company, and feel good about having supported a great cause! I believe the grins/$ ratio will be very high
