2012 Porsche Boxster totally undisguised from autoblog!

Funny, that's what I thought about the 991. I think safety regulations are beginning to seriously impede the look of these cars, especially the rear end. I'm sure there's some aerodynamic variable in there as well...but I'm not a big fan of the 991 rear, or this one.

This is amazing. At this rate, we should see the car fully revealed online sometime in the next few days/weeks. Looking forward to it.
Liking: the three-dimensionality of the taillights and how the indicators jut out from the main light unit, the air intakes on the sides and associated door treatment, the more muscular rear arch along the back of the car and the more sculpted air intakes in the front. I also love how they treated the rear parking sensors by embedding them into the black diffuser at the bottom rather than dotting the bumper with the sensors.
Disliking: the new spoiler [it looks too fragile and delicate, like a good yank will snap it right off], the tiny daytime running lights in the front air intakes and how their size doesn't correlate with the size of the headlights and the fact that the front lights don't integrate LED turn signals the way the Cayenne and 911 do.
Can't wait to see the interior, though. It'll be markedly different from the Panamera/Cayenne/911 - from the shots posted at the beginning of this thread, it's clear that the sport chrono clock is embedded between the two air conditioning vents. I wonder how they'll integrate the rising center console architecture given the smaller cabin space they have.
And now we wait...

Recent rumors suggests the Boxster S will be downsized from 3.4 to 3.2 liters and feature 325hp from the flat-six engine. The normal Boxster is said to deliver 270hp from a 2.7 liter engine. The Boxster will carry a 6-speed manual gearbox while the Boxster S will carry a 7-speed manual, just like the 991. Both models can be optionally equipped with the 7-speed PDK of course.
Boxster S is said to finish 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds using the 7-speed manual gearbox. The now widened front track and increased wheelbase is said to take the driving characteristics to another level. Apparently the new Boxster S chassis is said to produce 1.4g.
I believe this car will be pretty amazing! Can't wait till the official unveiling.
