Don't kid about that 'cause you know us old guys once carried our condoms in our wallets and they sometimes weren't totally reliable! So 'son', expect another mouth to feed at Thanksgiving in Las Vegas and I hope your guest room has a nice view of 'The Strip"! Saludos, z356

spyder

Hey guys I am new to this site and was enjoying your discussion about the pikes peak spyder. When I was in the springs in late july I drove the car and was very impressed, I was originally going to buy a 911s but this car was awesome. I am wonder for those of you who were there was this car driven in a way that would make you not want to purchase it? I appreciate the feedback, I understand it was taken to the top of the peak but not sure how it was driven.

Jeff Zwart drove the 2011 Pikes Peak very smoothly, like 'the little old lady' he is at heart. Don't tell him I said that, though. In any case, not a missed shift, not a wheel over the edge of the precipice! Well, he wouldn't be here with us on this earth if he had done that! And he is around, as I just saw him at David Mohlman's party in Carmel on Aug 16th! Not to worry f16solo, Jeff is a class act...and so are his cars. And Dieter at Andial knows how to maintain them. So buy with confidence. Saludos, z356

Watch how close he comes to...eternity! That takes mighty cojones!

Welcome to the TEAM

"car driven in a way that would make you not want to purchase it" – This is very vague terminology. The car is built to perform at high revs.

The only thing you really need to look out for on a preowned/predriven car is mechanical over-revs and transmission abuse (which most likely won't happen if the car has not suffered over-revs).

I would recommend you get an ECU printout of the car which will tell you if the engine has ever spun over its electronic rev limiter. If it has serious counts over range 3/4 then I would suggest a pass, otherwise you're good to go!

If the spyder in question is a PDK car, it's (afaik) impossible for the driver to over-rev the engine. In which case you're golden.

f16solo: You are talking about the Spyder and not the gt2 RS? My bad. No, that Spyder wasn't driven by Jeff at all. It was taken briefly & gingerly up Pikes Peak by some sort of Hollywood celebrity whom I had never heard of. It was not a competitive run - just a marketing/publicity exercise!

And who knows who else has driven the car - it is a used vehicle as I recall. It is owned by Porsche of Colorado Springs, which is a reputable dealer in Colorado. Are you discussing this purchase with General Manager Joe Brenner? He is first rate and highly recommended! Sorry for the confusion as I have a bit of Alzheimer at my advanced age. Thanks JCay for setting me straight. Yes, PDK. You are 'golden'. Saludos, z356

No, it wasn't you JCay. He was good looking, personable and really knew how to drive. I might have a problem with memory loss but my eyes & ears work fine! Saludos, z356
