Look at one of the Official Pace Cars of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb!
I just came back tonight from a reception held at Porsche of Colorado Springs for Jeff Zwart and his gt2 RS in anticipation of his run at Pikes Peak this weekend. I got there early since I know the new General Manager of the dealership Joe Brenner and he showed me around this almost brand new dealership (in business only 5 years). Jeff was in the back still working on his car, along with a group of techs from Porsche Motorsport and Dieter Izenhofer of Andial. I know Jeff since he is a fellow member of R Gruppe. I told him I was expecting soon my '12 Spyder which is scheduled for production in late July. He mentioned that he knows several gt3 RS owners that think their Spyders are even more 'fun' than their gt3's!
Attached are photos I took. Jeff is the fellow in black in the first photo with a fan in the red shirt (not me). Check out the last photos, which are of one of the Official Pace Car of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for 2011!
Saludos, z356 (currently enjoying the summer in beautiful Colorado)

Wow that's awesome! Great to see how close to stock the GT2 RS was kept! Do you know what was done to the gearbox? The center console looks torn up. Was a sequential installed?
Spyder pace car looks awesome as well.

I don't think he went sequential on this gt2 RS. Sorry I didn't get a better photo. He is hoping the turbo gt2 motor (vs last year's gt3) will help at those altitudes! Check the following:

Yeah you! hahahahaha.....awesome spec. I have only seen one Aqua Blue Spyder (or maybe it was cobalt?) and it looked great. It had black interior though. Blue over red will surely be something to see. no to derail this thread but what are the other options of the car?

Lack of color options is probably the biggest gripe I have heard from other enthusiasts about the Spyder. By the time it came to select the colors on MY2012's, it was limited to three standards (Carrara white, Guards Red and Black), three metallics (Basalt, Platinum and Aqua) and one special order (Cream White). Even Artic Silver had been dropped and Cocoa leather (which I never liked!) was no longer available in the interior.
My main options are the usual 'four S' suspects - Sport buckets, Sport chrono, Sport Shifter & Sport exhaust. To me those are the essentials to have which characterizes what I would call 'the fundamental Boxster Spyder experience'!
The rest of my options are non-essentials. Some are related to convenience & safety (A/C, Bi-Xenons, Self-Dim Mirrors & Rain Sensor, Rear Park-Assist). Some are extremely personal preferences about color & design which were specifically coordinated with 'Porsche Exclusive' in Germany (leather options with stitching, deviating carpet color, et al.). I have been working with them since the Fall of 2010 to try to see what would be the most 'unique' combination I could order on a Spyder sans PTS.
The vehicle will be one of the last Spyder built, scheduled now for late July. It should be here before end of August. Will post photos when it arrives. z356 (currently in Colorado)

There are no 'Cobalt Blue' Spyders as it would have had to be PTS and those have not been built yet. In fact, I only know of one PTS Spyder coming to a US client and that will be in 'Speed Yellow'. So if you saw a Blue Spyder, it had to be 'Aqua Blue Metallic'. And of those, most have standard black interiors. A few I have seen with Sand Beige. But I have only seen one other Aqua/Red combination and that was in Europe!
