Cayman R order?

No, I'm not considering it. I have a buddy that is getting an early Feb build on the car. Maybe first to states. White/black. I'm wondering if anyone here is ordering a car or is considering. He is not quite sure and is considering an 07 GT3 instead. I'm just looking to see if there is interest in this car. I know there was with the Spyder at the onset, but the interest in that car has gone to squat.

he would be foolish not to get a 997.1 GT3 instead.

I would agree. He likes to track, but he is pushing 60 and thinks he would enjoy the PDK paddles. He is coming from a Cayman S. Money also plays a part in the decision. I personally believe the 997.1 GT3 is the best car for the money on our planet.

Well put. I prefer manual on the track. It's just too much fun to even consider another option. PDK might be good for times, but it ain't the same. By miles.

I'm getting one. Right now looking at a March or June build. Manual, PTS, add A/C, and that's about it. I forgot xenons, and alcantara interior stuff (roof, wheel, shift, brake). $80K MSRP - picture below in a PTS blue...

Does the R come with the PSE as standard equipment? If not, you will be disappoint with the sound, I added the PSE to my Spyder and so glad I did, transforms the car. The R will give you less sound than the Spyder because of the hard top. You could always go with an aftermarket exhuast, but then you have to deal with warranty issue. Just ask GT3 owners about aftermarket exhuast and RMS leaks, not covered by Porsche.

He will be trading the Cayman S to dealership in the deal. I like the GT3 better, but the Cayman has it's place and is a great car.
