I think the 914 was only a Porsche in the US. In europe it was a VW-Porsche. (can't remember where I read this though)

I'll reserve judgement until i see it. But just looking at the numbers, I will say it will be a disappointment for us all if we are looking for something to compare to a Lotus. For instance around Laguna Seca a well driven Exige will do 1:37. A well driven GT3RS will do it in about the same. Porsche simply won't make an Entry level car that could keep up to their racing thoroughbred. Considering how much they held back the Cayman, expect this car to be more like a heavier Miata.

i didn't think the Boxster could get any more gay, but Porsche had to go and prove me wrong.

We don't have to worry about uniqueness. They say sub £30k now, but then you have to pick all the extras such as fuel tank ($5k), floor mats ($2k) and steering wheel (8k) and soon enough the new car will be just as expensive as a regular boxster.

Same thing applies to the other models, options list around 25-30k extra for my specs.

My biggest fear is after all the safety features and electronic driving crutches have been added it will be far from nimble ... performance will be on par with a GTI or Golf R ....

Well, at least people won't drive it into the ditch with all those safety features when they do in-car videos

I love the car, but not more than a one year old bulletproof Miata for half the price.
