tools needed:
-knife from friday the 13th :P
-box cutter
-measuring tape
-painters tape
-sharpie (same color as your carpet)

I wanted to come up with a way to make the cover look stock, like it was a factory option.
So first you measure your cover to the Glass on the engine cover (I have a strutking). Using painters tape make an outline of it.



Take your box cutter and start cutting, try to move across smooth and straight, this is very important to keep the cut smooth.



on the corners you can either make a sharp or round edge.



once you cut all the way through check to make sure the cuts are clean and peel off the tape.



now use a sharp kitchen knife to cut through the foam.





you will see the carpet start to drop.



once you pull it apart you will see the foam start to come off





now you need to cut a few inches of the inside to clear for the frame of the cover.



use the kitchen knife again but be careful not to cut through the cover, you only want to cut the foam.





pull apart the foam, use the knife to split it if necessary











once you pull it apart now pull off the layer of glue on the carpet.







once you pull all of the glue off, now use your sharpie to color the edges.

 

now place it back in your car and admire.





I also pulled the foam off the center piece so that I can have the stock look too it should fit tight and give kind of a snap sound once pushed in place





You can see the cut piece fits nicely and tight, you can barely notice the cut.





Turn your lights on and turn heads.
