The Last of the Breed, Land Rover Defender 90 StationWagon
Hello guys,
There has been speculation going around that the Defender will be discontinued soon and a couple of years back there were unveils of a DC100 concept that will soon take place of the Defender because it doesn't match with the 2015 EU crash protection and emission rules. From what I know that there is a big chance that the 2013 is going to be the very last old school look defender and the new owners JLR(Tata) want to re-direct the brand to a broader audience and make the car utilitarian but to a lesser extent similar to the Evoque and Freelander(LR2).
I have always been a fan of this car and its one of my goals in my wish list to own such a car and thankfully over the years I am blessed to achieve some of the more rational wishes. The Defender has not been imported in Kuwait since 2010 and I've been trying and using all my resources at the dealership to import one for me 7 months ago and that didn't happen, then I purchased a car to a similar kind which is a Toyota LC79 and sold it later after seeing the newer Defenders re appear on the surface and I quickly went to the dealership and booked one.
The Defender that I just bought supposedly should arrive in a couple of hours to the port and is a 2013 Defender with the 16" boost alloys and is a base spec which is just perfect for me and more than enough. I am extremely excited and this is the most anticipated car that I have ever bought and never in my life I've been so pumped up and anxious to drive it. I have been fortunate in driving and owning many nice cars but never in my life I've had sleepless nights reading this many reviews and youtube clips.
The Spec is similar to the one seen in the latest James Bond movie staring Daniel Craig, the car I have picked is a 2013 Defender 90 finished in Orkney Grey and with cloth interior. I have recently purchased some modifications for this car dealer fitted genuine accessories the likes of front lamp guards and the chequered matte black trim for the Top Wing Protectors and the sides.
I am just sharing my enthusiasm in this great forum and hope to pick the car up the next week if there are no delays with customs, PDI, registration and whatever obstacles on the way.
Here is a sample of what the car will look like and the difference my car will have visually is that it will come with the black grille and orange light markers up front. I cant wait to rack up the miles on this car and give my G55 AMG some break.
