Arnage being put to sleep
As Bentley prepares to bid farewell to the Arnage model range after a 10-year innings, it has announced a swansong model: the Arnage Final Series. This limited-edition run of 150 cars celebrates a decade of success for Bentley’s four-door flagship.
The Final Series enjoys a specification all its own, combining the performance of the 500bhp Arnage T and its 6¾-litre twin-turbocharged V8, together with the refinement of the Arnage R.
Many of the Mulliner options are included as standard on the Final Series, including the hand-made waistrails with inset chrome strip bearing recessed Bentley badges, the new rear cocktail cabinet and document storage trimmed in hide, plus the picnic tables available in a choice of three unbleached wood veneers. Meanwhile, Bentley remains the only automobile manufacturer in the world to offer as standard a cabin trimmed entirely with leather hides – including the headlining.
Discreet exterior touches identify the Final Series, some of them first seen on the Bentley Brooklands coupe, namely the 20in five-spoke, two-piece alloy wheels and ‘Le Mans’ lower front wing air vents. Other unique features include body-coloured front and rear lamp bezels, ‘jewel’ fuel filler cap, plus ‘Final Series’ wing badges and polished stainless steel treadplates to the front doors.
While the Final Series celebrates 10 years of the Arnage and the end of an era, it also represents the culmination of 90 years of Bentley heritage and marks the 50th anniversary of the company’s V8 engine.

This is one of my favorite Bentley's. I have always loved the Arnage T. I think it's one of the most elegant sedans out there. Not like these new monsters of luxury. When it used to be a flamboyant car, it is today an understated car. I hope they make a car that embodies what this outgoing model used to embody. A car that embodies what Bentley originally was built for.
Unlike the Flying Spur (which is, imo, feminine), the Phantom (which is too flashy), the Maybach (you need to have a Rap album), the S-class (everyone has one); The Arnage is a masculine, gentlemen's driver, that embodies everything we are missing today when it comes to elegance and luxury. It still commands very much respect, and will continue to be a phenomenal car in the years passing it's death.
I do not wish to rant, but this is a great car, and I wish so see a worthy replacement.

by the way...
"Bentley is already working at the next generation Arnage that will be launched in 2010. A true Rolls-Royce beater, the 2010 Arnage will be priced at around £180,000 for the base version, and rise to in excess of £200,000 for the W16-engined Arnage T version.
The new Arnage will be even bigger than the model it’s set to replace. The increased length will ensure the new range-topper provides limousine levels of space inside. And for the first time ever, bosses are considering the possibility of using a diesel in the Arnage.
Also rumors say that the W16 engine from the Bugatti Veyron supercar is also under consideration for the big Bentley. It would be most suited to the range-topping Arnage T model, and have enough power to propel the four-door from 0-62mph in well under five seconds."
