God thats eerie.... imagine if the photo was good enough to see his facial expressions? Poor SOB... he must have been thinking 'oh fvck oh fvck oh fvck oh fvck!!'.

Considering the speed an G-forces involved, and the pilot's age, there's a fairly good chance he was passed out or near to it.

A similar trim tab loss happened back in the 90s. The pilot described the effect as an immediate 10G climb of some 9,000 feet with a loss of conciousness.

Absolutely terrible tragedy. I heard about this the moment it happened. I was going to go to the Air Races this year but got caught up with work.

My prayers are with all those affected by this and with the people that lost their lives.

Aside from the human tragedy that took place there, it's ridiculous how people are getting up in arms about shutting this event down. There's more coverage on wether or not this should be allowed to continue than focusing on the terrible losses.

Beyond ridiculous, but nobody ever said the safety police crowd were sane.

The difference between a freak accident and a real risk are lost on people who have not one clue what they're talking about.
