Of all the planes I crew chief'd in the AF, the A-10 was my favorite due to it being engineered with the maintainer in mind.
Part of scheduled maintenance is to water wash the internals of the power plant to combat buildup.

The tank buster is one badass jet. It was my favorite jet growing up as a kid.

The gun was designed, they then had to find something to put it in.

So they designed the A-10 around the gun.

I heard melting was more of an issue than stalling...

I have an old spent shell from an A10 my uncle gave me a long time ago. The shell is huge, just glad this thing is on our side.
