The FAA puts on a field trip day every year at our airport called "National Transportation Day". Spent the entire morning talking to kids and showing them various aircraft, hoping to spark some interest in aviation. It was a lot of fun! Aircraft owners from our field and several others in the area put their aircraft out on display for the kids to look at. The military and local police departments get involved too and bring out helicopters, motorcycles, etc.

 

I would have a great time at an event like that!
