Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and kind words.

I passed the oral exam with flying colors (ha) but blew the practical by forgetting to call "missed" on one of the approaches. I was fighting 20-25+ knot gusts all day, and to blow it on a radio call.... Frustrating.

Very few problems with the approaches themselves, holds, unusual attitudes, etc.

So.... Have to practice some and schedule a second attempt.

congrats on having passed the oral!

now that you got that done there`s less pressure on you and you`ll pass the practical the next time.
Things like that will only make you an even better pilot(imo)

You'll do fine the next time around. Silly mistake that can happen to anyone, even someone as awesome as me.

Thanks guys. Winds have been a real bitch here lately. I went up on a maintenance flight right at dusk tonight to check a few things we had repaired and ended up coming back to 90 degree gusts in the teens, in the dark, coming in to our 2600' runway. Fun.

I'll be waiting to retest once all this crazy wind is out of here. My CFI and I will be doing a couple of training flights this week and next to keep polishing up. I think I have up to 60 days to retest just the item I failed, or beyond that I have to sit for the entire thing again. I'm thinking next weekend will be just fine.

Good luck man, I had a somewhat similar experience with my VFR/PP FAA checkride, did good on the oral and went downhill from there for a host of reasons. Killed the balance of the checkride 2 weeks later and will give the IFR rating a shot probably mid year 2011, while just enjoying flying in the interim.
