f22 slow speed maneuverability demonstration at farnborough air show
#11
The real benefit to the raptor is not that it's fast or stealthy, but that it's very maneuverable at slower speeds, and can get to "angle of boom" sooner than just about anything, regardless of how fast, or slow, it's flying.

I would say that the Dog Fighting days are far from over, however for now they might be but not for long. Right now we have a stealth fighter that can target planes before ever seeing them. Let's not forget though, that we aren't the only one developing that technology. So what happens when two opposing stealth fighter squadrons happen upon each other in war time? I would say that the only way that two stealth planes could fight would be to dog fight. If our missiles can't track them, and theirs can't track us, then I would say that Dog Fighting will most likely occur closer in than ever before.
So in this case dog fighting will be the egg and the plane will be the chicken. un-advanced airplane=dogfighting, Highly advanced stealth tech=no dogfighting, Multiple countries with highly advanced stealth fighters=dog fighting. That's just my thought though.

I believe future dogfighting will probably take place between UAVs.
