What is striking to me is that he not only does he decides to go into the Hudson but he cuts off all contact with air traffic control for what seems to be over a minute to focus on one thing...land this plane as best as he can. The whole time he has no idea if this is the end of his life and the lives of everyone on the plane. That is one courageous and competent man.
