Just seeing this time, can anyone answer me about the lap. The start of the clock and the finish aren't at the same spot. Is this timing the same used for other recorded times. Also where is passenger seat? Driver in race seat? Its a great time don't get me wrong but raises a few questions with no answers.

Also rumors is it that Mark Lieb wants another go in the 918 with different tires and full production car compared to the pre production run. Maybe we could see a 6:4X.XX time.

The same here: SLS AMG Coupé Black Series - 7'25"67 on the Nordschleife
Lap time starts at the corner and stops at the line.

^Other examples and information on Wikipedia

Full lap

A full lap of the Nordschleife, bypassing the modern GP track, is 20.832 km (12.944 mi) long. Most laps are completed 200 metres (656 ft) shorter for safety reasons.

Sport Auto lap

During the industry testing sessions in which sport auto records its "Supertest", the track can not be traveled at full speed past "Tribüne 13" (T13, grandstand 13) in order to allow safe access from the old exit/entrance there. Thus, sport auto Supertests cover only about 20.6 km (12.8 mi), which in average yields a 7s shorter lap time compared to a full lap.

I quote some examples:

Incomplete return -->--->-- Start/Stop ≠ place

20,600 m (12.8 mi) Dodge Viper ACR-X (non-road-legal)
20,600 m (67,600 ft) Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 (2012)
20,600 m (67,600 ft) Nissan GT-R Nismo (2015)
20,600 m (67,600 ft) Pagani Zonda F Clubsport
20,832 m (12.944 mi) Subaru WRX STI sedan (non-road-legal)*
20,832 m (68,346 ft) Dodge Viper ACR (2009)*

*Claim to have made a complete turn, however, the respective video you can see that they do not complete the turn. It may be an error in Wikipedia.

Full turn -->-- Start/Stop = place

20,832 m (68,346 ft) Pagani Zonda R (non-road-legal)
20,832 m (68,346 ft) Ferrari 599XX (non-road-legal)
