This may seem like a crazy idea, but now that the prices for the 07-08 Gallardos are dropping I have been thinking of getting one as my "other" car.

I drive an Aston Martin V12Vantage in the summer and I track an Audi TT RS in the summer months and daily drive it in the winter months.

Last week I drove my friends R8 V10 on the track and it was fantastic, it made me crave a Gallardo again, but I'm not selling the Vantage. I would sell the Audi TT RS

People drive 911 4S's and R8's all through the winter (in downtown Toronto. Not too much snow)

SOOOOO...

Is it possible (for the more hard core) to drive a Gallardo like a Porsche or R8? I'm thinking about people who live in the city (Chicago, NY, Toronto etc)

No problem!

 

I know a guy that drove his G Spyder through an Edmonton winter, so it's doable. Gotta have front lift though (well, you do in Edmonton, not sure how much snow stays down in TO).

 

do they put sand or salt on your streets when it snows?

 

Streets are plowed, and sanded. But no salt. But if there's a lot of snow, it can be a while before the plows or sanders get around.

 

Anything AWD would be fine, I would buy an R8 over the Bull for me but car has same base anyway.

 

Not all AWD systems are equal. Go watch videos of STi's pulling Hummers out of the snow.

I've also seen a video of an R8 and GT-R struggling up a slight snowy slope. Probably due to inadequate tires but these cars were also never designed foe this.

Bottom line, AWD is great, but with these cars you'll also need the best winter tires you can buy to feel truly safe.

 

Tyres of course make the difference ..l but if you ate considering a Gallardo, R8 or C4S I would assume none of those are pulling bummers lol ... And Oldon proves they all work including the GTR lol

 

I say stay with the R8 also. That car is designed for daily drive.

 

Plus Gallardo as a hard driven track car = flatbed home.
