Aventador or 458

The Aventador would be your best bet. You also live in Canada so Lamborghini's AWD would suit you better. Good luck and congrats on your success which has given you the ability to afford these beautiful machines!
As far as resale value it's too early to predict for these models but I see several 458's ranging from $270,000 up to $350,000 so they hold their value fairly well. As for the Aventador's I don't think there are any yet on the used market.
Both are beautiful cars and you cannot go wrong with either but I have always preferred the Lamborghini's looks to the Ferrari but I prefer the stock exhaust of the F car to the Lambo...

As much as I love the 458, I would have to choose the Aventador in this case. Unless you plan on tracking your car, you'll never get to use the 458's full potential, and at that point it's all about street presence and looks to me. In those departments, the Lambo wins hands down, at least for me. Also, judging by your location, the fact that the Lambo is AWD might help make your decision. Aventador + ski rack/roofbox = coolest winter ride ever.

Ok here are a few crappy cell phone pictures from my wife's phone. I have never posted pictures of my cars online except now. I have no pictures of my other 2 cars, (2010 aston DBS and Alfa 8C) that i can post here.
here:
My 2011 SLS the day it arrived my dealer,
2010 Jaguar XFR, (there is also a pic here when a family member got into minor accident)
The rest of the pictures are of my wife's 2011 Maserati GTS.
Hope you enjoy. i will take picture next time, (better ones)

You buy the Lamborghini because you can, its fantastic to look at and to drive although not a scalpel, it's certaintly not a sledgehammer like older V12 models.
The Ferrari you buy probably more with your head as in most cases it will be 'technically' a better drive, but I would assume in many ways it would be simialr to your SLS, apart from on the track (maybe, I have not had the pleasure of driving a SLS).
At that price bracket, its about the heartrate, not the lap times in my eyes and the Lamborghini raises my heart rate just looking at the damn thing.
