Lamborghini "Cabrera LP600-4" Speculation Thread
#141
Why not? Lots of car companies do so.
I'm trying to figure out if you're arguing with yourself here or what. It's pretty well understood that Lamborghini will discontinue offering manual transmissions because of the expense of doing so, due of the low take rate of the manual. You actually say so yourself in your most recent post here.
So then I'm confused by this:
You go on to explain to us at length how the Aventador's electronic transmission is configured and why it cannot be shifted manually.
As much as I lament the passing of manuals in Lamborghinis, I completely understand their reasoning. Yours, however, I cannot. Again, there is no technical reason preventing Lamborghini from offering a manual transmission in the Aventador. The design of the Aventador's electronically shifted transmission in no way impacts the design of a manual transmission that they could offer.
It'd be like saying GM can't offer a manual in the Corvette because of the design of the torque converter in its automatic.

I was gonna call this guy out when I read his posts but I figured if I left it you guys would handle it anyway.
I wonder if he even really owns a Lambo? He posted a few pics in his profile but they all seem fairly generic. Could be anybody's car.

No, I said the Aventador cannot because it is not mechanically possible to convert the existing transmission into a manual. I have no idea why this is so hard to understand. This is not a "fail" ... ask the factory techs if you don't believe me. It is 100% impossible for aventador to have conventional manual, it never will happen period! It will never have a stick option.
Btw, I found out they have also registered the URL name as well directly from my factory contact, It looks like that is going to be the real name. I even double checked just to be sure. As of two weeks ago this is accurate he said.
He did mention the Cabrera may not share the 7-spd with the Aventador after all, if it does not then manual could be a possible option but under a special edition most likely. E-gear (or the next iteration of it) will be more than likely standard. Its still not impossible for it to be E-gear only. He did confirm that doors will 100% be standard horizontal doors, no vertical doors for the Cabrera, that will only be reserved for the flagship Aventador
I will post all the new updates as I hear them in the coming few weeks.

If its going to be built on the same platform as the r8 it sounds like a v8tt will replace the v10

) confirm that the successor will be offered as a manual. It won't be restricted to a limited edition. I think this is common knowledge by now. I can tell you exactly why "it is not mechanically possible to convert the existing transmission into a manual" is hard to understand. The statement simply makes no sense. Most (if not all) manufacturers use separate transmissions entirely if they offer an auto/e-gear vs a manual. It is NOT a matter of adapting a manual into an automatic. Lamborghini did not simply take the 6-speed in the Gallardo and add some actuators to it to transform it into an e-gear variant. Think about it..if they did that then you would still have a clutch it the e-gear. It's a DIFFERENT piece of hardware altogether. That is all anyone here is saying.

I've already had a dealer (no secrets...it was Dallas Lambo!

I'm a bit skeptical too...
where did you get the hp numbers from? I highly doubt they will only add 10 or 20hp to a completely different and new model.
And your comments about how your "bicolor" is just about as fast as the Aventador don't make much sense. The Aventador does 10.5 in the quarter mile, while your car does at least a second slower..
I know it's not a gallardo, but the Aventador holds on pretty well with the 700whp 458
