What model/year Lamborghini vehicles do you own?
I currently own a 2008 Reventón, a 2008 Superleggera and a 2006 Gallardo Spyder. In the past I have owned a 2004 Gallardo Coupe, 2004 Murciélago Coupe and a 2006 Murciélago Roadster.
What first attracted you to the Lamborghini brand?
Of course there is a certain mystique to an Italian sports car. I was really attracted by the Lamborghini style and exotic flare. Lamborghini has an incredible reputation for fast, exotic looking cars, with an exhaust tone like no other.
For you, what makes a Lamborghini vehicle – and the brand – unique?
Above all, the Lamborghini style and flare.
What are your favorite things about your Lamborghinis?
Lamborghini vehicles are fun to drive and they have incredible handling and acceleration. They also attract incredible attention from other car enthusiasts. I believe the Gallardo is the best Italian Exotic car for use as a daily driver.
What makes you feel like part of Famiglia Lamborghini?
Owning one of the 20 Reventóns produced is very special. I frequently participate in the Giro Lamborghini and meet other Lamborghini owners from around the country and around the world. I have also visited the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata and have had the opportunity to interact firsthand with Lamborghini corporate executives, which is wonderful.
How many cars are in your collection?
I have 170 cars in my collection. The collection consists of about 30% muscle cars, 40% Corvettes and Lingenfelter products (cars we build through my company, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering) and about 30% exotic European cars.
If you had to narrow it down to just one car to keep in your garage and one car to be a daily driver, which would they be?
I would choose the Reventón to keep in my garage and the Gallardo Spyder to drive and enjoy. One of my goals is to always have the latest Gallardo as a daily driver.
What kind of auto show events do you go to? Lamborghini events?
I attend the Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland and many auto shows in the United States. I attend shows locally and across the country almost every weekend. For Lamborghini events, I often participate in Giro Lamborghini and attend the introduction of new models in the United States and abroad.
How have you seen the auto industry/collecting change over the years?
The economy has had a big effect on the auto industry and collector car market. Today it takes a lot more research and more caution to decide what to invest in. I collect cars not only to keep in the collection but to drive and enjoy. Also, from my perspective collecting cars is not a “for profit” venture. However, buying cars that hold value over years and are fun to drive and show, will more than make up for any loss in resale value. The fun factor in owning a Lamborghini is immeasurable.
What advice do you have for aspiring collectors?
Buy cars that you like and that you can drive and enjoy once in a while and share your collection with others. I’ve made some great friends by sharing my collection and by sharing the stories of how the cars ended up in the collection. Much of the fun in collecting is in the hunt for just the right car. Also, one really great surprise has been how we have been able to attract contributions to various charity groups by sponsoring events and by auctioning off private tours of my collection. It’s a great way to give back and to meet other car enthusiasts and other people who appreciate fine automobiles.
