TT Lambo in serious crash at Texas Mile *Video*

I don't know why he spun off before. But this wreck was caused by horrible luck. When the chute deployed the 30 mph headwind kicked in. And you see what happened.

If I were guessing, it was a bit of inexperience.
I agree. He (Richard) ran 250 last year without (significant) incident, and Kyle's non-winged G ran 240.

If you have a car capable of 250 mph surely you should have the brakes capable of stopping you from that speed safely????
The Gallardo was never designed to use a parachute to help it stop. This car is not a dragster.
A really admire these guys for getting these cars to those speeds but you have to make sure the rest of the car is up to that task as well

He spun because the car wasn't designed for these speeds and tacking 30mph top speed to an otherwise stock car will cause funny aero things such as rear-end lift ... which would hit real bad when decelerating. When did he crash again? Oh, right.
No arguing that a great driver and perfect conditions can get 240-250mph ... but the slightest glitch will *uck you up because you're on the limit already.
Nothing unpredictable here ... the only suprise (and a VERY happy one at that) is that he made it out ok.

If you have ever driven a car at speed and used a chute the forces than come into play are huge. It’s almost like driving into a brick wall. There is a very good chance that the rear wheels of the car would have been lifted off the ground at the point of deployment. I will leave you to imagine what happens next.
By the way I am an ex drag racer who has used parachutes for a number of years. I know what they can do

No offense against Richard (250.1mph Gallardo), as he is an experienced racer and a great guy, but he was running factory ceramics (first time a Lambo running ceramics tried stopping from that speed) and I think he will agree that too much was applied after he crossed the line. I drove one and it's a little getting used to. Plus that was his first time ever even sitting in that car. He took delivery at the track! Don't be suprised to see a slightly different brake setup next time because of that.
