Lotus Adds Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS) to Evora S
Evora product portfolio expands to provide transmission choice on both naturally-aspirated Evora and supercharged Evora S models.

Lotus’ North American product portfolio expands for model year 2013 to now include the availability of the optional Intelligent Precision Shift (IPS) 6-speed, paddle-shiftable, automatic transmission on the supercharged Evora S.

Last year, the formerly all manual transmission Evora lineup was broadened to include the availability of the IPS automatic gearbox only on the naturally-aspirated 276 horsepower Evora. Now, driver’s that prefer the urban cruising ease of an automatic along with the involvement of a paddle-shiftable 6-speed when the roads get twisty can have the best of both worlds in the 345 horsepower supercharged Evora S as well.

Both the 6-speed manual and IPS-equipped Evora S variants come standard with a Sport Pack featuring a ‘Sport’ button which enhances throttle response and activates the exhaust by-pass valve. The ‘Sport’ button also raises the instantaneous rev limit and changes the dynamic stability control settings resulting in a total driving experience change. There are cross-drilled brakes included in the Sport Pack for improved cooling, and the sporty presence of the Evora S becomes much more visceral when the active exhaust opens to make the car sound just as dramatic as it feels.

The IPS transmission enables the driver of the Lotus Evora and Evora S to choose between four different drive modes; 1) fully automatic mode for cruising in urban areas or traffic, 2) automatic with “Sport” mode engaged which allows higher revs and provides crisper shifts, 3) manual paddle-shift mode for any time the driver wants to be more involved in the drive experience and 4) full manual paddle-shift with “Sport” mode engaged for ultimate performance.

Manufacturer Suggested Retail Pricing for the 2013 Evora range will reflect a slight 1 percent increase on the naturally-aspirated Evora models and a small 1.3 percent increase on the supercharged Evora S variants.

The IPS 6-speed, paddle-shiftable, automatic transmission is a $2,850 option. A full array of other option packages and stand-alone options continue to be available across the 2013 Evora range.
