Lotus Exige V6 S Road Test
#34
- Sounds like they've made it a better car on the track. It does not sound like they've made it a better weekend street car in comparison to the GT3.
- Sure I can. Have they changed the issues with getting into and out of the car? No. Have they fixed the cheap interior? No. Have they made it no longer look like a kit car? No. A faster, better handling, better steering version of the Exige I've driven doesn't equal a GT3 beater because they aren't even competition for each other. This looks like a poor-man's alternative to a GT3 cup-car; not competition for any of the GT3 street cars.
- I doubt it. The Evora S is more "cross-shoppable" to a GT3 than this thing.
- The GT3 would be preferable for almost anything. The only thing this might be preferable for is a road course.
- Right. ...and for that 30k you get a Porsche motor instead of a Toyota one and an actual interior.
- That's a whole lot of qualifiers being used by someone who earlier made the statement that the Exige beat the GT3 "hands down."

You don't have anything to add to this conversation so you'd prefer to make snide remarks - gotcha
..and for the record I'd much prefer Alex's 430Scud to a 911 GT3. Ironically most of the argument on why the Lotus beat the GT3 "hands down" would just as ridiculously apply to it beating the Scud...

Nice review and pictures.
As far as 'better' than a GT3? Meaningless really or at least meaningless to me.
I can make a case for a Boxster S to be 'better' than a GT3 but better for what and how?
Of course in the end it's personal preference always but it's more than just performance or 'feel', it's a combination of many things..That's for the Lotus or the GT3 or any car.
I'm no fanboy but I can inequitably say I would take a GT3 over this car any day of the week, without a doubt.
But what is a car review without comparisons like that? Especially when you pit the reviewed car against a more expensive car. It's unavoidable and part of the fun of this hobby..And I have no doubt that the Lotus is a blast to drive.
Just my .02 cents.
