Anybody own/driven one? Early cars can be had in the higher $90's...

 

We've got a relatives Vanquish S ultimate edition next door, great car but not worth the price when new.

 

my good friend/neighbor went through 2 or 3 Vanquishes lemoned for blown transmissions. They finally gave him a Vanquish S which he has been fairly trouble free for the last few years.

 

One of the best looking cars ever IMHO, Early trannies sucked as Steve H states.

 

My GF's father got one 2 months ago. I picked it up in LA and drove it back to San Francisco for him. Fun car to drive and it shifts a lot better in sport mode. So far no problems and he uses it as his daily driver. He has a DB9 Volante for his weekend toy.

 

The Vanquish is one of the best sounding and looking GT made in recent years - i love it. I wouldn't buy anything other than a late model 'S' in a manual however.

The earlier V's had a terrible transmission system - making an attempt to do a 3 point turn on a test drive was enough to turn my dad off purchasing one years ago - it's a huge pain in the ass going from first into reverse through neutral and jerky to boot. As such my dad he ended up with DB7 Volante at the time.

IIRC the Vanquish 'S' models are going for quite a bit - $160k + seems to be the asking price, not sure what they're actually selling for. It is one car i have and will continue to keep my eyes on for a future purchase (manual version only)!

oh, the most hilarious part was after his second car was lemoned for a transmission failure, Aston Martin NA suggested he take a different route home rather than sit in traffic on the hill

 

Lol priceless, did you see the Fifth Gear test of the Vanq S where they basically tell Vicky to not push the car hard because that will break it

Still, gorgeous car and that sound alone is almost worth the trouble. And a proper old school Aston.
