Post Spied: Jaguar XKR-S Cabrio

Spied: Jaguar XKR-S Cabrio

The monster cat goes topless

Our trusty Teamspeed spies catch today a topless version of the monster Jaguar XKR-S today at the famous Nürburgring. The prototype was spotted undergoing high-speed handling tests and is almost production ready. We fully expect to find under the front bonnet the same supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, 550 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, power-plant from the XKR-S coupe.

The addition of the roof mechanisms and structural reinforcements will most likely bring us a heavier curb weight so the sprint from 0-60 mph run could be a bit longer then coupe’s, which clocks in at 4.2 seconds, but top speed should match the coupe at 186 mph.

Our contributing Editor drove the hardtop XKR-S a few months ago ( read that review here XKR-S First Drive )at the ring and was thoroughly impressed by the monster cat so we can only expect the same from the drop top variant plus a bit of wind blown hair. Expect the Jaguar XKR-S Cabrio to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor show next March.

It's going to give the DBS Volante a run for its money.

Then again, if you had enough money to buy an Aston, you would buy the Aston. People with the money required to purchase such a vehicle don't necessarily think about the "bang for the buck" factor. Some do, most don't.

If you were at a bar, you meet a woman, and she asks you to drive her somewhere, what car would u rather walk out to?

It's a good question, then again, I'm not gonna hide that I am an Aston fanboy.

Was thinking the something, lol. Only thing is, is the Volante just seems to flow better.. I don't really like this cabrio for some reason.

Lots of snap-on stuff. Looks a little aftermarket from the back of a car mag.
