I want to take a friend I haven't seen in a long time to a nice dinner next week.

I wanted to go to Spruce, Quince, or Conduit, but they are all booked when I want to go, Tuesday around 8pm. Good for them being that busy. I signed up for their wait lists, but would like to have a confirmed reservation somewhere.

Does anyone have recommendations of cool new spots similar to those?

 

Have you tried Coi or Masa's?

These are 2 of my favorites in SF.

What kind of food you looking at? In no particular cuisine / order I'd recommend: Kokkari, Chez Panisse, Gary Denko's, The House, Bacar, Umami, Andalu, Michael Mina and tons more...god it's so hard to pull them out of my head...just too much good food here!

and when you do, you need more than a week's notice hell, i haven't been in 4 years b/c it's impossible to get a reservation.

spruce is good but way overpriced for what it is.

i just went to coi Wed night - i expected more (but i'm more demanding than most) but it's probably one of SF's top 5 restaurants. a nice place to catch up w/ an old friend.

supervixen - i can't get you a reservation @ quince for Tues; but if you want to go sometime in the future, give me 2 weeks notice and i can probably get you in.
