Had the chance to drive the Black Series at Willow Springs at a Best of AMG event. What an awesome car (and track). I'd never driven there before but we had Maxi Gotz (2013 Spa 24-hour winner) to follow around. He was in an SLS GT and at one point he apologised over the radio for holding us up (pretty much the highlight of my career right there).
Car is phenomenal. Just like a GT3 RS as far as grip and balance is concerned but with lots more power. The steering is sensational. We were lapping Big Willow in the 1:27 bracket and Gotz got the Black into the high 1:25s (and he hadn't been there before, either).
Also had a drive on the road and felt the need for speed on the long straight road away from Edwards Airforce Base. It's certainly firm but it's not harsh on the road like I feared it might be. Damping is well-judged and the body control is brilliant.
Congrats to all owners as this is one of the true greats.
