have been using it extensively the last 2 days, using my knowledge from experience with MBs to test everything out and bring it up to my, ahem, standards
so far i added 2 litres of oil and have concluded all tires and wheels are tip top (keeping them now at 35psi) despite having had a scare. refrigerant not an issue but fact of the matter is the ac just cannot put up with the ambient temperature with all the flat and surface area of the glass in the peak hrs of heat. needs a few bulbs in the tails/brake. door behind driver lock mechanism needs to be redone. so overall just small tidbits here and there.

exterior wise i really don't have anything in mind except the front grille guard.. minus the grill/guards/whatever they're called that come on the headlight unit, or the turn signals, or the taillights. asked in the AD and he quoted me $1,800 or a bit less which is kinda meh esp if the prices online make any sense. of course factoring in shipping and i'll end up paying something like that anyway if i go with it.

this is what i like the look and idea of:

this is what i do not like in any shape or form jic there are more than one type:

interior wise i've been ruined by the 2 previous Gs i drove which were both 2010 with their instrument clusters.. really cool and all around better display - i hate that i cannot see coolant temp on the gauge and have to go through the obc display. dont think i can ever be interested to actually go into fitment and all that because it's more function over form and for a project like that lets face it, it should be the other way round

same goes for the centre console in the newer models; look cool but i dont care for it neither

steering wheel is something i would be interested in. something like the SL55 feel and size. or a yet sportier one. would only be interested if it's all leather and no wood trim whatsoever.
the wood trim in my car is not my fav but i know i will stop noticing it in a week's time, and i have no genius ideas to as what to paint it so if anyone has suggestions go ahead

so in short: ext could be the big grill guard thingy
int could be a sportier thicker steering wheel with no trim

ad's vin check says g55. certain it is a 500 engine. kitted and played with but the only thing i care about is that it is NOT a supercharged car. no idea what the fruit was going on with AMG and the Gs in 2002

major matters sorted, now the to-do list that i will thoroughly enjoy is:
1. program an additional remote key (1 day's work)
yet to replace brake light bulb on one of the tails, so lazy

2. additional one day's work at the shop, will have to be after the spare is done.
a.replace thermometer (or adjust, gives me +5 deg c or so)
b.sort out the door lock behind the driver, can be opened from inside, sometimes opens sometimes doesnt from outside. had the same happen on the S but i dont think its the pump, prolly the lock itself either needs lubricating but even if, am gonna replace the plastic holder thing because this is the door of the baby seat
c.replace transmission oil so i can have it on my clock jic

3. drop off at my mate's for a wax and polish, want a mirror finish on the white ext

basically that's it
the front grill guard, polished + the lower polished pipe will be a nice touch for the exterior but not in a hurry

int wise, the steering wheel is still peeving me but i'm comparing it to the SL55's steering wheel which is unfair. the instrument cluster is getting easier to navigate, and i can find the coolant temp and ext temp and use the radio functions etc without looking, have it memorized.
will maintain that the updated (08+ i think) look great when lights are on, and doing some reading on the matter it seems they are replaceable but i don't think it will be worth it financially so we'll see
