Hey guys, I was looking at a C63 at my local Merc. dealership today and I had my mind pretty made up that I wanted to have the AMG development package on the C63, except now that we had a big snowfall it made me reconsider. Because w/ all that extra hp, I'd imagine it might compromise traction, etc.

One of the biggest things I look for in a car is the ability to handle snow, I'm not sure if the dev. pack. is worth the $6k+ price. What do you think?

 

Yes dont get the car if its not a performance package.

Get the package. Doesn't Mercedes have a "snow" mode for the gearbox?
Also, in theory, the engine is stronger and should take a tad more HP with a tune...

 

Yeah but see the difference between the dev. Pack and non-dev. Pack c63 is the difference between me barely on the road and me in a 10-foot-tall snow drift.

 

Will this be your only car or do you have a beater winter vehicle

 

I would think a regular C63 would be terrible in the snow as well? Get it!

 

I would possibly be able to use a buddy's car if they don't need it, but now, this would be my only car, I was planning on maybe getting like a base cayenne or a grand cherokee as a 2nd car eventually.

 

Not to be completely stupid, bu is the amg development pack a c63? I wouldnt round it out as being completely terrible in the snow, but its pretty obvious that a c300 w/4 matic would so much better in the snow.
But, if you were looking for an extra car, go witht the grand cherokee, much more for the price.

 

Yeah, it's an optional performance package for the C63 AMG Coupe, I mean yeah I understand that this isn't gonna be great in the snow anyway, but I'd like to still be able to at least think about driving in the snow without imagining myself in a ditch on the side of the road y'know?
