SLS E-Cell Prototype

Yes, the SLS' awesome 6.2-liter V-8 is replaced with an all-electric powertrain for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell Prototype. Yes, it has less horsepower. That's the bad news. The rest is good: It still has 526-horsepower and 649-pound-feet of torque -- the latter available instantly. And with an electric motor driving each wheel, the E-Cell will accelerate to 60 mph in four seconds, according to the AMG crew.

But why remove one of the most sonically rewarding supercar mills in production from the engine bay? It's all part of Mercedes' AMG Performance 2015 strategy, the goal of which is to "continually reduce the fuel consumption and emissions of new models in the coming years, while at the same time enhancing the core brand value of performance," says Ola Kallenius, Mercedes-AMG GmbH's new chairman.

I'm down with this car. I'd miss the gorgeous sound the V8 makes though.

The only thing here that I really like is the interior, much better than one in production SLS.
