SSD Replacement - Boot Issues
I have installed a Crucial M4 512gb SSD in place of my factory 320gb Toshiba HD in my 2011 MBP 15". Got everything hooked up but I can't get the computer to boot correctly.
The SSD is cloned/works, but in order for me to get the computer to boot up, I have to have my old Mac OS install CD in the CD drive. I can remove it once the computer is booted, but not until then.
I booted from my old HD externally, and then shut down, unplugged it, and tried to reboot but no dice.
Anyone know how to get the SSD to boot properly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried YouTube ? There is a step by step video that really makes it much more easier. I've installed my ssd 3 months ago but I cannot remember exactly the procedure I did.
I did use a video as reference:
Type crucial ssd install on YouTube , I remember the video I saw was an install of a 128gb ssd from crucial on a 13" MBP hope that helps.

Thanks MM!
I have looked into the YouTube installs and will look again... trouble is, I think this is an issue where the computer is having difficulty "learning" to boot from the SSD.
It seems they've been having more issues since Lion came out as well, not sure if that's got something to do with it or not.

Good luck !
There are many video's you can see that explain it step by step or check macrumours forum.
On my MBP, I installed Lion OSX on stock HD then upgraded ram to 8gb then installed SSD (re installed lion through USB) used the .dmg file (headache) it works great now

I will probably call Crucial tomorrow as well and will post so if anyone else has trouble there will at least be something here... I could barely navigate any of the ten million articles which don't cover this haha.

I would definitely consider trying that, but the problem is there's no install disc for Lion.

This is the summary of what you do, there is a tutorial on youtube(makes life easier) its an easy 5 minute job. The install time takes longer that's it
Link to that process:

^Thanks Mo. I'm saving that for sure! I am such a Mac n00b still when it comes to this stuff.
Wound up getting it fixed, what I did was reboot with the Snow Leopard disc in, held Command + R which brought up recovery, and then chose start up disc and selected the SSD. I will probably reinstall Lion just to make sure everything is working right.
