your Iphone was it an unlocked before? cause I have run into that before and had to go back to my guy to unlock again

No. It was purchased new, from a Bestbuy store. only had this issue with 4.3.2 and 4.3.3- not before. It's fine now but it didn't sync my app's. wth?

I have this problem every time I update my iPhone(both 3G and 4g). Usually takes 3-4 recovery tries in iTunes to work. Whatev... Computers are as perfect as humans

Missed this for some reason. What are the specifics of the host machine? What OS, version of iTunes, etc, etc.

My iTunes says my iPhone 4 is up to date with the 4.2.8 software update, and I know there is a 4.3 update. Why?

DEll inspiron, Windows Ulimate 7- the exact same set up since I've had my iPhone from new.

As I've never seen this happen, I can only assume it has to do with doze. Try upgrading iTunes to the latest version if you have not already done so.
