SoCal is an unknown quantity at this point
Bro, IMHO, you don't even need the Pro. Get the regular MacBook, and upgrade what you can. It will last you for at least 4 years. I have had my base MacBook with all of the upgrades I could get since June of 2007, and have spent almost 2 years in the Middle East and P-Stan with it and she is still running strong. No need to spend extra money if you don't have to. This is just my $0.02.

Normal MB costs 999, he's getting his MBP for 1099 w/ student discount - there isn't much you can get for 100 bucks from apple.

It should do the trick, school stuff doesn't require a super computer, and I'm sure it will DL porn just fine too.

Yep, only getting the Pro because it's $100 more with the discount for which I qualify. But damn, missed the iTouch by a month?? Fawk... I have an iPhone4 but I would have sold the Touch.

It's usually on a desk so it might be a tad small, but I will probably get a wireless mouse and keyboard, and connect it to my 37'' Sharp Aquos LCD.

Now just deciding between 2.4 or 2.66... I tend to keep my computers for 4+ years so I like to go "overkill" when they are new. Helps them last longer.

Thanks for the input!

If you've got cash to burn, look into an SSD HDD upgrade. These make the MBP's fly!

Got it all today. Need to get the cable from Radio Shack to hook it up to the TV.

I wanted to try the Track Pad. If I don't like it, I will exchange for Magic Mouse. Thoughts? To be used from a couch in the livingroom, FWIW.

the trackpad is cool since you'll be using the one on the MBP. hope you don't a lot of gaming.

I don't do any gaming. Except Scrabble on my iPhone 4.

LOVE my trackpad. Really great device. Still have a mouse to hand as it's a bit more accurate for photoshop etc ime.
