How do I get new ringtones onto my iphone 4?

How do I get new ringtones onto my iphone 4?
So I've got two ringtones mp3's in my music on itunes.
I connect the phone and choose sync all ringtones, but they don't come over. I also tried to drag and drop them onto my phone and that didn't work.
How do I get them on it?

Weird, following internet instructions, I put the file on my desktop, convert to .m4r, but when I go to put it back into itunes, it reverts back to either mp3 or something else so it doesn't go into my ringtones file.

Ringtone by title - Ring | CrackBerry.com
and
Regina scream | CrackBerry.com
as well as a custom made Led Zeppelin Dancing Days!
