Server/IMac Controller?

Hi -

I was wondering.....

Anyone know of a way to utilize say a power mac as say the iTunes (movies, music etc) brain with a home crontrol system like Crestron or Elan?

I ask becasue, its a pain having to stream or keep the central computer on in my house for my apple tv to work. So, I was thinking that I could buy a MASSIVE service with raid and attach some sort of interface controller to be controlled by and elan or Crestron wall panel.

Any idea?

Thanks!

You don't need a huge amount of horsepower to do that. A mini talking to some kind of RAID array will do the job, and you can interface it with Crestron using this and/or xpanel.

Personally I prefer using an iPod touch or iPhone to control itunes with the remote app, but that'll work too.

AppleTV will only stream, so you need a host machine to support it. You could do that with a mini as well.
